How to choose decor in the Provence style and its advantages

The interior in the Provence style is easy to recognize by its characteristic features. First of all, this is the color scheme. Light, muted shades prevail here: soft beige, cream, soft blue, lavender and olive.

These tones help to create a feeling of spaciousness and light, making the room more airy.

Another important element is natural materials. Wooden ceiling beams, cotton and wool in textiles, whitewashed walls with a slight antique effect, floral prints, plank parquet give the interior a special authenticity. Light wood species with artificial abrasions, carvings and vintage details are used in the furniture. Often, chests of drawers, cabinets and chairs are artificially aged.

Decor also plays a key role. There is no place for modern, cold elements in the Provence style – everything here should look alive and natural. Porcelain dishes with floral patterns, ceramic vases, lace napkins, wicker baskets and fresh flowers give the interior the right mood. Forged elements can also be present, but there are not many of them – in lamps, candlesticks, furniture and door handles.

It is easy to decorate the interior yourself in this style. Firstly, all the characteristic elements go well together, and secondly, you can do some things yourself: paint the furniture, sew curtains or pillowcases. Suitable accessories are sold on marketplaces and from hand-made craftsmen. At the same time, minor flaws will look organic and make the interior even more cozy.
